Privacy Policy

Effective September 19, 2026

Clever Ducks builds and manages IT and cybersecurity for Central Coast businesses. We hold ourselves to a high standard for how information is handled, and that standard applies to our own website too. This policy explains what we collect when you visit cleverducks.com, how we use it, who sees it, and the choices you have.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers our public website, cleverducks.com, including our video library, and the information we collect through it. It does not cover the systems and data we manage for clients under a services agreement — that work is governed by the agreement between us. Our SMS program has its own SMS Privacy Policy, which supplements this one.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form on our site, we collect what you enter — typically your name, email address, phone number, company, and your message. If you opt in to our SMS program, we collect the information described in the SMS Privacy Policy.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers and the analytics tools below record technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site. Some of this is collected through cookies (Section 5).

What we don't do. We do not use visitor de-anonymization or identity-resolution services. We do not try to match your visit to your name, your employer, or your contact details. If you want us to know you visited, the contact form is right there.

3. How we use information

We use what we collect to respond when you contact us, to operate and improve the website, to understand how visitors use it, to measure our advertising, and to protect the site and our business, including spam and abuse prevention. We do not sell personal information.

4. Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, and Google Ads to measure and run our advertising, including remarketing (showing you our ads on other sites after you visit ours). Google describes its use of data in Google's privacy policy, and you can opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Ours fall into three groups:

GroupWhat it doesExamples
EssentialMakes the site work — forms, security, performanceCloudflare security cookies, WordPress session cookies
AnalyticsTells us which pages get used and how visitors move through the siteGoogle Analytics (_ga, _ga_*)
AdvertisingMeasures our ads and enables remarketingGoogle Ads (_gcl_au)

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though a few conveniences may not. If you'd like a hand with that, ask us.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control browser signals. The cookie controls in Section 5 and Google's opt-out in Section 4 are the ways to limit tracking here.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we share it only with the service providers who process it on our behalf, and where the law requires:

  • Hosting and delivery — Kinsta (website hosting) and Cloudflare (content delivery, security, and video storage for our library). Both see the technical information in Section 2 as part of serving the site to you.
  • Analytics and advertising — Google, as described in Section 4.
  • Forms and email — the form software on our site stores your submission and emails it to our team through our Microsoft 365 tenant. For the SMS program, our messaging provider.
  • Professional advisors and authorities — where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our clients, or the public.

Embedded third-party content (for example, a Google Map on our contact page) behaves as if you visited that site directly, and those sites may set their own cookies under their own policies. Videos in our library are hosted by us, not by a video platform, so watching one does not set a video-platform cookie.

8. How long we keep information

We keep form submissions and related correspondence for as long as we need them to respond to you and maintain our business records. Analytics and advertising data are kept for 14 months. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.

9. Your rights and choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email or call us using the details in Section 11; we will verify the request and respond within a reasonable time. We will not treat you differently for asking. We may keep information we are required to keep for legal, security, or business-records reasons.

California residents. This policy is our notice under the California Online Privacy Protection Act.

10. A few other things

Security. We protect this information the way you would expect a security company to: encryption in transit, access limited to the people who need it, and current security tooling on the systems involved. No website can promise perfect security, but this is our day job.

Children. Our website and services are for businesses. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Business contacts. If you interact with us on behalf of your employer, we handle your business contact information under this same policy.

Links to other sites. Our site links to services we use with clients — our client portal, guest support, scheduling — each of which has its own privacy policy.

11. Changes to this policy and how to reach us

When we change this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. For material changes we will say so prominently on this page.
